Monika Maron - Endmoränen

yesterday, i finished a book from the german author Monika Maron - she was born during world war 2 in Berlin, and grew up in East Germany. the book's title is "Endmoränen" - "ending moraines" (with moraines being glacially formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris) - i guess, the title refers to the scattered memories and reflections that come up in the book about growing older in this time of changes.

it's rather interestig, to read of life on this other side of the same, but different country. the most curious in the line in the book is a quote from the russian letter-friend she has as school kid, who ended each letter with the line:

"shdu otwjeta kak solowejej leta" -

"i am awaiting your answer the way a nightingale awaits summer."
