elimae: compass/ion

the new year starts with elimae 2010: January -- which went online right on the first, and from layout and colour fits january: white space. ink thoughts.

the issue includes a poem i wrote in december: compass/ion.
this poem connects to another november text about the world and the systematic of thinking: "more and more" / Nanoism #104.

so beautiful, to see the year started with this compass of thoughts, and in such good company. there are also 2 recent / upcoming blueprintreview contibutors included:

Michelle Reale: Flight
(BluePrintReview #19 story: The Way)

Susan Gibb: Wherever you are going
(BluePrintReview #23 story: "Different" (upcoming)

Nanoism: 104

"Nanoism (edited by Ben White) is an online publication for twitter-fiction: stories of up to 140 characters. Shorter then traditional flash fiction, it’s both a challenge to write and quick as a blink to read."

as usual, i couldn't resist the challenge. that's how "104" happened: a story about more and less, in exactly 24 words.

here's the direct link: 104 --
enjoy the blink.

The: Absorb

november, and i am taking part in NaNoWriMo (more about that in another post). the first counterpart-effects are already showing: my muse went on a poetry/revision-detour. out came: "Absorb".

the first (and longer) draft of this poem dates back to february. i gave up on it then. now, with a different approach (basically: cut+risk), the poem finally found its shape. still not sure where those images are coming from. but there they are, and already found a perfect place in The, a blog of words.

+ a thought: looking at the recent publications, it seems that this might be a new season of short short works: "Three" has 43 words, "Sliver" runs up to 95, and "Absorb" counts 29. added to that, there is a short piece upcoming in Nanoism, with 24 words.

Fictionaut: Three + The End of Février

about 2 weeks ago, via a facebook post, i came across Fictionaut. i think i visited the site in spring already, but got sidetracked. what immediately caught my interest this time was the subline: "Fictionaut - For adventurous readers and writers".

after browsing the page a bit, i looked for the register-button. turns out that the place so far is by invitation only. well, i thought, and sent a mail, asking for an invitation. which waited for me in my mailbox when i returned from Frankfurt.

i first thought i only register, and have a closer look around, but then remembered this story that i once wrote, and that now is leftover in "perfectland".. a magazine gone in haitus. so i posted it in Fictionaut, it's called "The End of Février".

the welcoming surprise arrived some hours later: feedback-mails, and messages like this one: "X. wrote on your Fictionaut Wall."

since i registered, i visited Fictionaut almost daily, to check out the latest "most recent stories" - some of them are new, some previously published (seems to be a theme of these days).

today, i put a second story up there, it's new, short, and a bit on the somber side, probably induced by the change of season towards colder and darker days: "Three".
