Guardian

This tree is standing in the South of Germany, not far from Tübingen. There’s something special about it – it has a own, very strong and distinct energy / personality. I walked past it, then returned, and tried to capture it in a picture.

The triangle sign on it marks it as a border point of a “Naturschutzgebiet” – a protected area of enhanced security for nature. There are special laws and regulations for those areas. Somehow it fits that they chose this tree to carry the marker, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were myths about it, with the tree as guardian, or as home for elves or forest ghosts.

(inspired by and written for the "Wonder and Magic of Trees", the December edition of the Festival of Trees blog carnival, hosted by Windywillow in Ireland.)
