island sky

one week ago, this time, i was still on Lanzarote island and went for a final bay walk.
the island time, it is still present (just like the grains of sand that still cling to my shoes)

and reading the news yesterday, i learned that we were lucky with the weather: a storm system visited the canary islands this week, bringing thunder and days of rain, and even power failures. it's a reminder again that you can only plan a part of things, that a lot of a journey depends on things beyond our reach. - and that a lot of moments just depend on chance. like this moment above: driving to the northern tip of the Lanzarote, and arriving there just in time for this meta-photo-moment.

I agree totally with your point that you can only plan part of a trip. Leaving the rest open for unexpected encounters is what makes a trip worth taking, whether the encounters are with people, objects, or the earth.

thank you for the lovely feedback!

really glad i caught that sky moment - first i walked across the road, to try a picture there, with the focus more on the small island. then i walked back to the car, and already was in the car, when i noticed the sky, and got out again to take this final photo. i am not even sure if i noticed the other photographer then, but now it is such a good detail, giving a sense of dimension, and also including the act of taking a photo.
