52/250: "we are not responsible" + new flash magazine: thirteen

this week's flash
the new 52/250 theme issue is up: WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE
the text i have in it is: Conjugation of Responsibility*

it's an experimental poem, based on google search results of "not responsible". while putting it together, i tried to stick to the first pages of hits, avoiding repetition and personal quotes. pretty gross, the results, and rather telling, with the base line being:

I am not responsible for
it

and so interesting to read the other texts of the responsible issue, especially "Every Little Thing" by Catherine Russel, which corresponds painfully with "Conjugation" with its ending line:

So I’m not responsible for the way the world is.
It’s everyone else
but me

new flash magazine
+ there is a new magazine up, connected to 52/250: THIRTEEN
"the best stories from the first thirteen weeks of the writing challenge that began in May, 52250 A Year of Flash"
i joined 52/250 in week 10, and thought of dipping back into what happened before, but was a bit overwhelmed by the number of stories - so this is great way to dig into previous themes.

big thanks to the 52/250 editors Michelle Elvy, John Wentworth Chapin & Walter Björkman for creating 52/250, for continuing to develop it - and for choosing some of my stories for thirteen. it's great to revisit the stories, and the others i wrote, as they also mark my return to flash writing:

- White (week 10, Union of Opposites, last story) - this was the story that brought me back to flash writing.

- Slices (week 11, Red Meat, first story) - a story of a past/the past. this story let me learn a lot about flash and writing, and took a larger shape than i realized: it turned into a top-1-fav story in fictionaut for 2 weeks ("Slices" with comments), and received comments that left me stunned: "This is a wonder. It captures an entire era through this one slight but powerful human episode." - "Amazing, brilliant, made me cry." (here's the link to the fictionaut page with all comments: Slices/fictionaut)

now to come: getting the flash story for the next week together. theme will be: "lucky number" (13, 52, 250, ..:)
